When does the pool close for inclement weather? The pools are closed for 30 minutes anytime lightning is seen or thunder is heard. The closing period begins again each time lightning or thunder occurs.
My child is not potty trained yet, what does my child need to wear to play in the pool? Plastic pants are required of all patrons at risk of having a bathroom accident. Even "Swim Diapers" must have a plastic or rubber pants worn over them when your child is in the pool.
Mom, how old do I have to be to play in the pool by myself? Children (5th grade and younger) must be supervised by an adult at all times. Youth (6th to 8th grade) must complete middle school orientation before visiting the pool without an adult.
Where do I get one of those cool swim bands I see everyone wearing? Children 8th grade and younger must take the swim test to swim in the deep end of our pool. To pass a swim test, your child must be able to comfortably swim one length (25 yards) of the pool on his/her stomach with face in the water using over-arm strokes with rhythmic breathing or breast stroke with face entering the water between breaths and tread water for 30 seconds in the presence of YMCA Aquatics staff.
